Tato práce analyzuje korespondenci hraběte Ferdinanda Jana Verduga s jeho pražským agentem Augustinem Pichlerem v letech 1668-1672 a na jejím základě se snaží vymezit pojem šlechtický agent, který se začíná objevovat v souvislosti se šlechtickými úředníky pobělohorského období a jehož význam nebyl dosud českými historiky prozkoumán.
Jako pomůcka k vymezení pojmu agent zde slouží porovnání se staršími šlechtickými hospodářskými úředníky předbělohorské doby, kteří měli podobné povinnosti jako agent, především správní, hospodářské a informátorské. Tyto druhy agentových povinností jsou v práci důkladněji rozebrány a ukázány na konkrétních příkladech z korespondence. Kromě těchto funkcí vykonával agent Augustin Pichler ještě funkci tzv. "právního sekretáře", na kterou je zde kladen největší důraz, protože právě ta ho odlišuje od starých šlechtických hospodářských úředníků z 16. a první poloviny 17. století.
Po porovnání s nepočetnými zmínkami v současné historiografii o agentech jiných šlechticů dochází v závěru práce ke zjištění, že funkce agentů v pobělohorské době se z funkce původních hospodářských úředníků rozšířila o rozměr specializace na řešení konkrétního právnického či byrokratického problému. Existovalo mnoho druhů agentů, podle jejich specializace, rozsahu kompetencí, místa zaměstnání apod.
This work analyses the correspondence between count Ferdinand Jan Verdugo and his Prague agent Augustin Pichler between 1668 and 1672. The work, based on this correspondence, tries to define the term of aristocratic agent which started to appear in connection with aristocratic officials in period after the Battle of White Mountain and whose importance has not been examined by the Czech historians yet.
The comparison with earlier economy officials of aristocrats in period before the Battle of White Mountain is used to define the term "agent". Officials' obligations were similar to agent's, especially in administration, economy and in the role of informants. This variety of agent's responsibilities is closer analysed in this work and pointed out in particular examples from the correspondence. Apart from mentioned tasks of agent, Augustin Pichler had also a function of so called "juristic secretary". The greatest emphasis in this work is put on this function because it distinguishes him from earlier economy officials of aristocrats in the 16th and the first half of the 17th century.
After comparison of a piece of information about agents of other aristocrats in contemporary historiography it is concluded that the function of agents in period after the Battle of White Mountain expanded. Their original role of economy officials was extended and they dealt with particular juristic or bureaucratic problems. There was a variety of agents who slightly differed in their specialization, range of competence, place of activity, etc.
