AB The article deals with sacramental foundations as elements of making the image of a good Catholic within the framework of the process of Catholization, not only at Catholics but also at possible convertites. It also outlines the question whether the foundations might be used as tools against their Protestant environment of which these individuals wanted to self-determine. The research is based on the case of sacramental foundations meant for the Minorite convent in Krnov from 1630 to 1680 when in the town the process of restoring Catholic religion took place. The article comes to conclusion that sacramental foundations might be used in ways stated above, though it is difficult to reveal right motifs of founders' actions. Particularly at times, when Catholics and potential convertites lived in the Protestant society to a certain measure, they could use foundations such as a demonstration of their belief and self-determination to their environment. Also later, when the necessity to be self-determined disappeared, sacramental foundations might serve as tools of making the image of a good Catholic, which represented a significant part of Early Modern Catholic man's life. However, above all it is a possible way of looking at establishing not only sacramental foundations which were primarily used here.
