The first part shows a situation in the compatriot's movement at the beginning of the war, the ways of the support to people in need in old homeland as well as Czech and Slovak soldiers of the Austro-Hungarian army kept in prisoner-of-war camps belonging to the Allied Powers and their allies. The following part deals with the question of the unification of the compatriot's movement in the year 1915 and supporting the Czechoslovak Foreign Resistance led by T. G. Masaryk. And finally, the second section of the article analyses the effort of compatriots to build up the Czechoslovak foreign army in France and to train volunteers in the military camp in Stamford.
