T1 Between Millstones - City Council as Communication Point between Olomouc Community and Swedish Occupation Authorities (1642-1650)

AB Crisis situations generally are very good cases to study urban organism. One of such situations among others could be a war conflict. We will look at urban society of Moravian city Olomouc during long-term Swedish occupation (1642-1650). Following archive files we will observe two ways of communications. First one - how the city council representing whole city community negotiated with Swedish military authorities (above all with commanding officer). Second one - how the city council comunicated dealt with Olomouc community itself. The main question ist, how far the city face to face enemy occupation forces figured as one. Or if some signs of disunity could be found. Although the common point of wiev says, the city was terrorized by the Swedish commander and had to follow his orders, the reality seems to be differnt since it was more question of two-side dealing and compromises. In many cases, the city council managed to minimalize the impact of military presence.
