PT Journal AU Tomaskova, E TI Beda Dudik - an OSB postgraduate student in Olomouc SO Historica Olomucensia PY 2011 BP 95 EP 108 VL 40 IS 2 AB Beda Dudik (1815-1890), the prospective Moravian historiographer and a monk of the Benedictine abbey in Rajhrad, was one of the students who obtained the doctor's degree at Frantisek University in Olomouc. Abbot Viktor Schlossar supported him in his effort to obtain higher education because the monastery in Rajhrad was obliged to provide the philosophical institute in Brno with some teachers throughout its existence. Dudik completed the first part of the preparation for his doctoral exams privately during his theological studies in Brno, the second part during his one-year sojourn in Olomouc (September 1839-July 1840). He kept his private diary and a book of incomes and expenses. We are informed about his everyday life relatively in detail from these books. The biggest part of his expenses were fees connected with his studies and payments for accommodation and board in the Dominican monastery. In Olomouc Dudik led a rich social life which reflects his extraordinary status among other students. He obtained his doctorate in philosophy and arts on 24th June 1840. ER
