Filantropická činnost rodu Berchtoldů

Článek se zabývá působením myšlenkových proudů od druhé poloviny 18. století na sociální, zdravotní i kulturní projekty tehdejší šlechty. Otázkou je, jaké důvody je vedly k takovým činům i ke hledání nových způsobů, jak naplnit své závazky vůči poddaným - zlepšit jejich životní podmínky. Praktickým příkladem tohoto jevu je rod Berchtoldů. Nevlastní bratři Leopold Berchtold a Bedřich Všemír Berchtold svými ideály, nápady, dokázali rozvinout a povýšit úroveň sociální i zdravotní péče nejen na svém panství a rovněž obohatili tehdejší vědu v habsburské monarchii.

Philanthropic Activities of the House of Berchtold

The study deals with the influence of thoughts of the second half of the 18th century on social, health and cultural projects of the then nobility. The question is what lead to such activities and to the search for new means of how to fulfil their obligations towards their subjects - how to make their living conditions better. A practical case of such a phenomenon is the Berchtold family. Through their ideals and ideas, Stepbrothers Leopold Berchtold and Bedřich Všemír Berchtold were able to develop and improve the social and health care not only in their dominion but also, they enriched the science in the whole Habsburg empire.
